HOME ON THE RANGE

Starting Friday morning the TV and radio were alerting us that the remnants of Hurricane Noel were going to hit Southern New England on Saturday.

That was the day my friends and I had matinee tickets for Les Miserables at the North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly. What to do? We decided to wait until Friday night to see if they were still forecasting bad weather. Well sure enough it still sounded like we were going to be in for a bad storm.

I called the box office that evening and was able to exchange the tickets for a Wednesday matinee. Not only that, the box office told me that we would each receive a $10.00 credit on our account since Wednesday matinee tickets cost less. Great!

As it turned out the storm did not affect the North Shore like it did other areas. We had heavy rain and wind but did not lose power.

OK, so I was home Saturday, not going out in that rain storm - On a day like that I started to think "SOUP"! Wouldn't it be nice to have a bowl of hot soup? As a matter of fact I had been checking out the cans of soup at the market. When I read the sodium content of the soup, I dropped the can like it was a hot potato.

Fortunately I had all the ingredients on hand (I had the meat in the freezer) and was able to make my hearty vegetable soup. My intention was to type the receipe here but before I did that I checked with Google and found that I posted that soup recipe
on December 12, 2006
, so if you missed that post, check it out.

I had a bowl of soup Saturday night and now I have five containers of soup in my freezer. It turns out, it was not a bad way to spend a stormy day!
